GITL is Gathered In The Light: Canadian Short Stories On Stage. We use the principles of Literary Story Theatre, a games & Method theatre style, and Viewpoints - a movement-based theatre style - to bring great Canadian literature to life.
Please join us as we present our first explorations of two provocative texts: Carol Shields' "Milk Bread Beer Ice" and Thomas H. Raddall's "The Wedding Gift" on Canada Day, July 1, 2007, at 430 pm at Harbourfront Centre's Brigantine Room in Toronto. This staged reading presents two Canadian women speaking to each other across the generations and revealing the need for shelter, companionship and recognition that binds one Canadian to another.
This presentation will reveal textual and intuitive threads perhaps unavailable to a reader. You will come away eager to read the stories for yourself and hungry for GITL's ongoing work.
Gathered in the Light: Canadian Stories On Stage is directed by Thom Vernon and features actors Jennifer Higgin, Philippe Poirier, Scott McCulloch, Zehra Leverman, Lisa Li and Alison Smiley.
